Pain Management
TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS
This office procedure helps to alleviate muscular pain. It tends to work well to decrease muscular pain & spasm in conditions such as myofascial pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, failed back surgery syndrome, as well as muscular pain generated from herniated disc, spinal arthritis, & facet joint irritation.
TRANSLAMINAR CERVICAL, THORACIC, & LUMBAR EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS
This procedure helps to relieve pain caused by disc herniation and/or nerve impingement. The steroid compound in the injection acts to block common inflammatory chemicals that generate pain signals. Up to 3 injections within a short period of time maybe required for optimal relief.
TRANSFORMINAL LUMBAR EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS
This procedure also acts to block common inflammatory chemicals that generate pain signals. It tends to specifically alleviate pain that radiates down the legs. It can also alleviate back pain as well.
CAUDAL EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS
This procedure helps to relieve back pain that persist after spinal surgery or when the other epidural approaches would be more difficult. This approach reaches near the area of the surgery while avoiding the surgery site. This approach is also commonly used when performing scar removal procedures called adhesiolysis.
SACROILITIC JOINT INJECTIONS
This procedure relieves pain that is generated from the sacroiliac joint. The sacroiliac joint is a pelvic joint.
HIP INJECTIONS
This procedure is helpful for patients with painful disorders of the hip such as osteoarthritis, contusions, as well as persistent hip pain after hip pinning surgery. It can also be used to rule in/out conditions that can mimic hip pain such as low back pain.
LUMBAR SYMPATHETIC BLOCKADE
This procedure helps to alleviate pain generated from diffusely painful disease processes such as peripheral neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, & complex regional pain syndrome. It blocks the painful signals that are generated from a coalescence of nerves called the ganglia. It is can also be used as a diagnostic tool to rule in/out the complex regional pain syndrome.
FACET RADIOFREQUENCY DENERVATION
This procedure relieves pain that is generated from spinal facet joints. Facet joints allow spinal motion just as the knee joint allows leg motion. It removes the nerves that cause painful irritation from the joint by using radiofrequency energy which is a form of heat energy. The facet nerve must be successfully blocked twice as a test to qualify for this procedure. This procedure works very well for conditions such as spinal arthritis. Traumatic insult to the joint itself from twisting or bending related injuries can also irritate this joint.
LUMBAR DISCOGRAPHY
This is a procedure that is used to identify which disc is a pain generator. It is a diagnostic test only, not therapeutic. It helps spinal surgeons know which disc to operate on for fusion-type surgeries. It can be helpful in ruling in/out internal derangement of a disc.
SPINAL CORD & PERIPHERAL NERVE STIMULATION
This procedure is helpful for patients with persistent pain after spinal surgery, peripheral vascular disease, and complex regional pain syndrome. It can also be an option for patients that want to avoid spinal surgery. It alleviates pain by blocking pain signals & increasing blood supply using electrical currents.
